Watch Keiran's Improvement Practitioner Journey

We’re proud to share a short video featuring one of our recent graduates, Keiran, from the Improvement Practitioner Course, who turned a challenge into a meaningful change.

In Paediatric Same Day Emergency Care (PSDEC), the absence of a dedicated ECG (Electrocardiography) machine meant children often faced long waits for essential tests. With limited machines and staff serving the whole of UHW, delays were common, especially out of hours, leading to extended stays and slower care.

Keiran saw an opportunity to improve this. His project aimed to bring an ECG machine directly into PSDEC, helping to:

  • Improve patient flow

  •  Reduce length of stay

  •  Enhance the experience for children and their families

This change also supports NHS Wales’ 5-year strategy for delivering timely, effective, and efficient care.

Watch the video to hear Keiran’s story and see improvement in action.
